Arts and Crafts

Emmy loves to do crafts.  She asks me to do some almost everyday.  If I am busy with other stuff I just give her something simple to colour, cut or glue.  But other times when I can I get some more complex and fun ideas from the internet.  Sometimes Eva is sleeping when we do crafts but sometimes she gets to share in the fun.  After we are done we hang our masterpieces on the art line in the livingroom so we can admire them until they are bumped off for the latest and greatest new art piece.

                It has been a hot one so far this May long weekend and we have really been enjoying it!

Backyard Camping

Over the few days leading up to the long weekend Emmy was talking about wanting to go camping and staying up late to look at the stars.  I told this to Robin and he decided that he would take her "camping" in the backyard.  She was excited to put up the tent and get everything ready but that did not last.  She was very worried about bugs getting her and she told her dad a few times that she wanted to go her bed.  He talked her into staying in the tent if he got her favourite friends, Hannie (the rabbit) and George (the monkey) to come and sleep with them.  He was telling me this when he came in the house to get them and when I asked him where Emmy was he said that she was waiting for him in the tent.  I laughed...for all the talking she was doing about wanting to come in the house and being scared obivously was mostly talk if she was willing to stay outside by herself to wait for him.

Eva's New Wheels

So last year I bought a little tikes push car from a yard sale for $3.  It turned out to be a great deal because Eva loved it and we have used it a lot.  But now that she is getting a little older she is more interested in the bikes in the yard.  She is not big enough or strong enough yet to actually ride one herself so I decided to buy this one so that she could feel all grown up and ride a bike around the block just like her sister.  This was her first ride and she loved it, even the bike helmet.

Happy Mother's Day!

What a nice relaxing Mother's Day I have had.  After giving up at 7am with the girls Eva decided to go for an early nap so I put on some TV on for Emmy and had a nap on the couch while she watched.  We got up again just in time for lunch and then we headed outside for some backyard fun.  First the girls gave me a gift which included a pink tool set, an iTunes card and some chocolate.  Then we had some fun blowing some bubbles and then girls hit the kiddie pool that we setup on the deck for them.  That was followed by a webcam with my family and then a walk around the block with a short stop at the park before Robin had to go to work.   I hope all you mothers out there had a great day as well!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the new online home of the Olafsturns.  We previously resided on an MSN page but I fell behind on posting the monthly photos...so far behind in fact that I have decided that I will NEVER catch up.  So I figured that I would give this blog thing a shot!  I plan to post weekly blogs that include a few pics from a special event or just an average day in the life of our family.  So I hope you enjoy checking back here to see what we are up to.  See ya later!
